This is a blog about the joy of Jesus!
I had for a long time a very confusing blog, confusing because it had all sorts of topics on it and not a lot of common ground between the things being said - the context made any given thing that much harder to understand. That blog was called Consider Your Ass Kicked! (don't worry about it, it wasn't noteworthy).
It's still out there, but what I want to do is take all the posts and put them in a better place. Poems in one place, social critique in another, and I want to put my joy of Jesus posts here - the better to steep in a good vibe of consistent and uninterrupted, you know.
The title "Good Lord And Butter!" is something a beloved ex-girlfriend of mine (and namesake in some sense to our Lord and Savior, now that I think of it!) used to say. It always felt like a prayer, to me - a statement that combined a sort of invocation of Christ's aid in the face of an exasperating fact, but also, combined with an appreciation for the gifts we've got. You had to hear her say it - it was in no wise a blashphemy. I solemnly assure you.
Anyway, republishing those posts here - kind of a low-priority project, but I'm taking baby steps. And I'll also be posting new ones!
I await the post about "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!".
ReplyDeleteI think that one would probably go on Consider Your Ass Kicked!.
ReplyDeleteBut thanks for reminding me, I need to start republishing the NARROW FOCUS posts from CYAK! (sounds like a hairball coming up) to here, and to here, and to...I think there's another one.
I dunno, I don't have to many strict focuses. Oh yes! I have a straight theology blog - which THIS ONE AIN'T IT! This is my pure joy of Jesus blog. Here's where my heart sits! The other one's where my mind alternately gambols through fields of fruited speculation or harrumph-harrumphs at the error and heresy inherent in so many of those I love's views, let alone how ungrammatical that may be of me. Also, never to worry: this blog purpose supersedes that one's entirely. I have no judgments to offer on anyone's souls, not even my own. I'm not even qualified!
Trusting always in the mercy and justice of Christ's judgment,
(I totally need to use that to sign off on emails!!)
(hm. Where appropriate, I mean)
Trusting always in the mercy and justice of Christ's judgment,
In communion and solidarity with the community of seekers and believers who have gone before, and tried to leave a way,
Without regard for their sins, peccadillos or misconceptions of the nature of the Infinite (of which I myself have proved to have a large but finite share),
I remain,
faithfully yours,
J
